DESCRIPTION:<font size="2"> Red Emma&#39\;s is thrilled to welcome Carlos
Martinez\, editor of the new PM Press book\, Venezuela Speaks!: Voices fro
m the Grassroots! It&#39\;s a collection of interviews with activists and
participants from across Venezuela&#39\;s social movements\, and we&#39\;v
e just gotten the book in stock\, and are happy to report that it looks ph
enomenal. From community media to land reform\; cooperatives to communal c
ouncils\, from the labor movement to the Afro- Venezuelan network\, Venezu
ela Speaks! sheds light on the complex realities within the Bolivarian Rev
olution. These interviews offer a compelling oral history of Venezuela&#39
 \;s democratic revolution\, from the bottom up. Don&#39\;t miss it!&nbsp\;

DESCRIPTION:<p><font size="2">Join Leah as she presents her home-spun book
let is entitled&nbsp\;&quot\;-------&nbsp\;and Her Brain &quot\;. Generall
y\, it describes her experience living as an ever-evolving&nbsp\;transsexu
al young&nbsp\;woman.&nbsp\; Her years of suppression and&nbsp\;anguish\,
leading to her inevitable coming out process\, are all depicted through nu
 merous&nbsp\;free-verse poetry/prose pieces\, rapid sketches\, and&nbsp\;d
isposable camera photography. The readings are rather emotionally charged
and may (at times) be accompanied by pre-recorded\, barely audible\, backg
round music created in her basement in the late hours of the night. This b
ooklet is the first&nbsp\;installment of a multi-leveled project which wil
l eventually produce a full length album that will hopefully be&nbsp\;comp
leted sometime during the summer.&nbsp\; In addition to the spoken present
ation\, Leah will be discussing her initiative in starting a regional coll
ective called Gender Edge. The purpose of the collective is to display to
general society the strength\, empowerment\, and creativity brought forth
by the younger\, edgier transgender generations. It is&nbsp\;basically an
activism through art dynamic\, a punk inspired movement for the transgende
 r community.&nbsp\; </font></p><p>&nbsp\;</p>

 >AUTUMN GEM explores the extraordinary life of China&#39\;s first feminist
  Qiu Jin (1875 - 1907). An accomplished writer\, women&#39\;s rights activ

tional gender roles and demanded equal rights and opportunities for women.
The sword-wielding\, cross-dressing Qiu Jin spoke out against footbinding
and other oppressive practices\, published her own feminist journal\, and
attempted an armed uprising against the corrupt Qing government.&nbsp\;Co
