PEPTalk #4: The RHIZOME COLLECTIVE presents Toolbox for Sustainable City Living: A do-it-ourselves Guide
Monday Aug 18, 7PM @ 2640 (2640 St. Paul St.)
The Rhizome Collective has for years been at the forefront of innovative low cost (or no cost) solutions to sustainable living, diy food security, and grassroots environmental remediation. Their Austin base of operations isn't just a shining example of how to reinvent our relationships to our urban environment, but a full-blown anarchoscience research facility for pushing the envelop of ecological practice, one five gallon bucket at a time. We're exceptionally happy, therefore, that two members of the collective, Stacy Pettigrew and Scott Kellogg, have gone ahead and synthesized these years of experience and experimentation into a book for the rest of: Toolbox for Sustainable City Living: A Do-it-Ourselves Guide. And even better - Scott Kellog will be coming to Baltimore to present the book, with an evening talk and demonstration session as part of Red Emma's and 2640's PEPTalk series.
There's also going to be an in-depth, hands-on, get some dirt under your nails workshop starting at noon on the same day, where you'll get the chance to help deploy some of the extremely appropriate technology at the lovely Forrest St. Garden (between Biddle and Chase).
