Infoshopkeeper : integrated point-of-sale and inventory management for (radical) booksellers

Initially developed for use at Red Emma's, a radical bookstore and fair trade coffeehouse in Baltimore, Infoshopkeeper is (as far as I know) the only free software solution for retail booksellers, and a pretty decent general purpose point of sale application as well. In theory, you don't even need to be an anti-capitalist managing the contradictions inherent in keeping radical community spaces solvent and sustainable in order to find it useful, although this hasn't been tested yet....
