new space : the red emma's expansion plans
Dear Friends & Comrades:
Keep an eye on this page over the next couple of weeks -- it will soon contain an overview of the major Red Emma's expansion plans we've been brewing for the past several months. To answer a common question: No, Red Emma's has not officially announced that we'll be moving, and we have yet to make an official statement on where we intend to move. As you've all heard, we are in negotiations on a couple of potential spaces, but things aren't yet finalized. What is certain is that we've quickly outgrown our current space, both in terms of size and in terms of ideas, and that we're hoping to expand into a larger space at the end of the year.
If you've visited the store in the past few months, you've probably heard people talking about all of the future Red Emma's plans: an expanded selection of books, a larger variety of healthy vegetarian and vegan meals, retail goods of the fair-trade and cooperative variety, an indoor farmer's market in the winter, an activist conference room/meeting space, film screenings, larger events, living wages & more worker-tunities in the new store ... the list goes on. We think that the Red Emma's expansion can be a great thing for Batimore -- but we desperately need your support to make this happen. Email us about getting involved with fundraising, with questions about the proposed expansion, with offers of donations (now tax-deductible!) or of low- or no-interest loans. And most importantly, come on in for a cup of coffee or iced tea, bring your friends in for lunch, and help support us by buying books, periodicals, and other reading materials!
We're so grateful for the support that you've given us over the past two years, and we're excited about the future!
In solidarity,
The Red Emma's Collective
